Piers Grizzelle (born 1952) took up painting seriously in his forties.
2000-2004 he attended painting classes at Richmond Adult college, Surrey, also taking weekly Life Drawing.
He continues to attend the studio of Jason Bowyer PPNEAC on a regular basis. He has also been taught by the painters Karn Holly and Arthur Neal.
His own vision, and temperament, have always been strongly inclined to the non representational but being taught by traditionally trained figurative artists has grounded his work in the basic craft skills of painting.

“Painting does not reveal truths supposed to exist beyond the edge, or behind the surface of the canvas. The only truth revealed is that of the painter’s relationship to the medium.
Paintings ask questions, invite debate. Delivering solutions is not the painter’s role.
Deny narrative. Disorder space. Disintegrate subject matter. What you have left is the paint.”
